Pro Bono
Connecting volunteer attorneys with clients who need representation most.
SJC relies on the private sector to support our work by volunteering so that immigrants across California have access to high-quality legal representation. We partner with firms and in-house counsel to meet their pro bono goals, and each year we serve hundreds more clients free of charge through leveraging volunteers from across the country.
Pro Bono Clinics
SJC's pro bono clinics are fully remote. Volunteer attorneys handle form preparation in the clinic under the supervision of SJC staff attorneys. SJC stays on as attorney of record, which allows for limited-scope work.
Adjustment of Status
Each year, SJC helps hundreds of clients adjust their status from asylee to lawful permanent resident. We are able to help so many clients through this essential step towards becoming U.S. citizens with the help of pro bono volunteers. We offer half-day workshops through video teleconference technology.

Youth are extremely vulnerable to deportation, and the law does not require that youth be given attorneys to help defend them from deportation. SJC provides free services to all children and youth. If you want to make a difference in an immigrant child's life, this clinic is right for you.

SJC is launching the SIJS Appearance Volunteer Program, connecting California-licensed attorneys with immigrant youth in need of pro bono representation. Volunteers assist with guardianship or custody proceedings to secure critical court findings necessary for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), creating opportunities for stability and lawful residency.
