No attorney-client relationship from browsing or forms

Merely accessing the site, submitting a contact or intake form, or exchanging initial messages does not by itself establish an attorney-client relationship with SJC or with any individual staff member, even if SJC responds with general information or next steps.

Confidentiality

Until a recognized relationship exists and applicable professional rules allow, information you submit may not be protected in the same way as communications under a full attorney-client relationship. Do not send highly sensitive information without guidance on appropriate channels.

When a representation relationship may form

A legal representation relationship with SJC arises only when you and SJC expressly agree to representation in accordance with our internal policies, applicable ethical rules for attorneys, and, where required, a written engagement agreement. Until then, you should not assume that SJC represents you in any proceeding or before any agency.
