Social Justice Collaborative’s work is vital to make sure that people on the move from violence undergoing deportation proceedings have access to low or no-cost legal representation. From individuals to entire families, we focus on empowering the migrant population, as well as promoting their survival and dignity. We are a nonprofit that works, among other things, to pressure governments to process asylum claims properly, ensure that migrants are not exploited by human traffickers, and to reunite families, those who are fleeing war, conflict, and natural disasters.

What is social justice collaborative doing for immigrants?

The asylum process is incredibly confusing and difficult to navigate, but with a lawyer by their side, people have a real chance to establish safe lives for themselves and their families in the United States.

SJC employs a “client-centered” approach to lawyering. We empower clients to make informed choices in their legal matters.

Families from all around the world who have fled persecution, violence, and war have come to the United States to start safe lives, however, they have very few resources to make it on their own.

Social Justice Collaborative is exclusively focused on providing legal representation probono or at a minimal cost to immigrants across the country but mainly in the Bay Area in California.

Immigrants and refugees are some of our most vulnerable friends. They’re also tremendously brave as they make up a large part of our essential workforce in health care and the service industry.

SJC makes a a concerted effort to work with organizations in the community. We understand that our clients’ needs are great and that we cannot meet all of them alone.  So we collaborate with other service providers to provide holistic services.
